Rumours have been floating around Miri that almost 500 human skeletons were found at the construction site of the new hotel adjoining Bintang Megamall / Bintang Plaza (soon-to-be Meritz Hotel). They are believed to have been killed and buried during the Japanese occupation of World War II.
Many strange hauntings and "trance-like" happenings have also been reported. There were also several suicides and "accidental" deaths at the Bintang Megamall area.
I've also heard from a sales person there who has said that there is supposedly a powerful "lady in red" who is behind the deaths of several men there. The sales person said it is believed that the "lady" is out to kill 7 men in order to menjadi manusia (revert to human form)..after which she would drink blood to survive (pontianak).
Apparently the situation became unbearable to the shop owners there and a Chinese exorcist or bomoh was called but it did not improve the situation.
There are speculations that there will be some special prayers held in the area around mid to end May 2011.
Supposedly, the skeletons will be moved to an area in Senadin, another reputedly "haunted spot".

Location: Sarawak Highway (Federal Route 01)
There is a long highway stretching across the state of Sarawak. The highway is part of the Trans Borneo Highway (Federal Route 01 for Sarawak). You can drive or ride an express bus all the way from Kuching city on the west to Miri city on the east, and it would take more than 12 hours.
At night the road is dark, with not many lamp posts between the towns, and drive consists mainly of long stretches through the countryside, tangled undergrowth, villages, farms and estates. Driving at night can be a scary experience, especially in the more isolated areas...

Location: MAS training school, Kelana Jaya
The MAS training school is situated at Kelana Jaya, in Petaling Jaya. The training school is built beside a lake. The lake used to be an old lombong timah (tin ore mine).
The grounds are very big, and one block is provided for the accommodations of the MAS staff and cabin crew. It's like a hotel. The whole area is very quiet at night.
Some of the MAS staff who have stayed there during the training claim that the area is "dirty."
According to a staff member, a very pretty lady who was previously Miss Malaysia was killed by her husband and her body was thrown into the lake. However, nothing was ever proven.
A lot of stewardesses have also been said to have committed suicide there.

Location: Desa Senadin
The area of Desa Senadin and the nearby Curtin campus itself used to be a swamp. It is said that the spirits of the swamp area are powerful and cannot be chased away by conventional means (bomohs, Chinese mediums, etc) as it is their area, and humans are the ones trespassing.
